Ron grew up in Elizabethtown, Kentucky in a family of “builders” both professional and DIY enthusiasts. These early experiences helped to foster his creativity and began to steer him in the direction of architecture.

Ron attended the University of Kentucky, college of architecture, where he studied under instructors who had themselves trained under Michael Graves. The school also had a focus on sustainable, green architecture. During this time he had visited Colorado and had often dreamed of living there. After graduating, Ron realized his dream of moving to Colorado in 1985.

Throughout the next 20 years Ron developed an extensive background in architectural design. Having designed schools, churches, hospitals & healthcare facilities, retail, residential and hospitality spaces, almost no building type was unfamiliar to him. He also worked in the field of facility management in order to broaden his perspective, giving him the opportunity to view architecture from the standpoint of the end user.

In 2003, thanks to some very fortunate life changes, Ron was able to start his own architecture firm. This was the birth of Architivity. He took his knowledge of architecture and his experience in facilities management and formed the philosophy behind Architivity. “Great architecture is a result of the integration of creative design with how you live, work and play.”

Ron has always lived by the saying “If you can find something you love to do and you can make a living doing it you’ll never work another day” and architecture is, without a doubt, what he loves to do.
